About

My name is Sydney Dean. Long before I decided to become a counsellor, I decided to start paying attention to what was going on inside of me. During this process, I began to notice the ways in which I was hanging on to painful experiences, the resistance I developed to myself and to living my life because of it, and all the hurt I had yet to heal from - and I really wanted to learn, grow, and heal. In many ways, my journey of undergoing studies and experiences to become a counsellor goes hand in hand with my journey of becoming a mindful person.

I completed a BA Double Major in Psychology and Gender and Women's Studies from Dalhousie University, a Diploma in Applied Psychology and Counselling (Specialization in Professional Counselling) from Kelowna College of Professional Counselling, and undergo continuous and various educational workshops and trainings to gain further skills and experience. Since 2019, I’ve been a member of the Canadian Professional Counsellors Association as a Registered Professional Counsellor (Candidate). I offer counselling services to adult individuals under the supervision of Registered Psychotherapist, Jenn M. Nelson.

I work with individuals with diverse backgrounds and experiences, sexualities, gender identities and expressions, and ways of living. My goal is to help you feel connected to yourself in all areas of your life, regardless of the obstacles or disconnections you may encounter.

I am proud to be an out queer counsellor.
